Rapture

I was browsing around and found an article on the recent bee disappearances via Neil Gaiman’s Journal. The article was very interesting, but what particularly struck my eye was this paragraph:
“As with any great mystery, a number of theories have been posed, and many seem to researchers to be more science fiction than science. People have blamed genetically modified crops, cellular phone towers and high-voltage transmission lines for the disappearances. Or was it a secret plot by Russia or Osama bin Laden to bring down American agriculture? Or, as some blogs have asserted, the rapture of the bees, in which God recalled them to heaven? Researchers have heard it all.”
The Rapture of the Bees! It’s here!

Thirteen (Random) Things about Monica
1…. I was born in Seoul, South Korea. My father was in the United States Army and my mother is Korean. We were only there for a month or so after I was born before coming stateside.
2…. When I was a kid I used to eat things like dirt, matches, crayons, play doh, goldfish food and paper. Oddly enough I was a very picky eater when it came to ‘real’ food.
3…. I am an avid bookworm and always have been. I dream of bookshelves and enough room to rescue the bulk of my books from their exile in the attic.
4…. My favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Connie Willis, Harlan Ellison, Kurt Vonnegut and Diana Wynne Jones.
5…. I like to putter around in paint shop pro and photoshop making icons and banners.
6…. My favorite television shows are Doctor Who, House, Heroes, 24, Deadliest Catch, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Office.
7…. I have been with the same guy for over three years and I love him dearly. I was friends with him for six or seven years before we began dating.
8…. I am a bit of a geek/nerd. I am okay with this.
9…. I am a member of Bookcrossing, Bookmooch, Paperback Swap and Postrossing. Mostly under the username Eunoia.
10…. I got my picture taken with Gordon Lightfoot this past Friday.
11…. I have far too many stuffed animals for someone my age.
12…. My favorite book I read last year was Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.
13…. I am a Queen of Procrastination. There are no less than 4 things I should be doing right now.

I think my bedroom might hate me. I opened my bedroom door to leave and my stereo came on without any warning (or button-pushing on my part). There was a Broadway cd in the player so a wave of applause exploded from the speakers. Was my room really that happy I was leaving? Creepy. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that there is a stack of books propped against the front of the stereo where the controls are.
Nah.
