The past month has been full of… things.

Rob’s cousin’s wedding reception, which was a load of fun. I may have gotten a bit tipsy due to the over-kindness of the rather cute bartender who made me some sort of fruity concoction.

Kerry’s baby shower was the Sunday before last. It was a LOT of fun. Definitely the most fun I’ve ever had at a baby shower. Despite the fact that Summer hit me in the head with a box. I got to help out, which I always enjoy and I never fail to have fun with the Lake Winola crew. They’re also the preferred party to play Balderdash with.

The Saturday before the wedding shower was a fundraiser for my old landlord’s wife. They’ve been friends with my dad since they were all in school and my dad actually dated her when they were really young. I lived next door to them for nearly twenty years. I live next door to their son now. Very cool people, though also very fond of drink. She had the odd talent of being able to fall asleep in her chair with a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other without dropping anything. She was diagnosed with breast cancer not long ago and it spread all over her body, including her brain and she was put into a hospice right before that because she required more care than her poor husband could manage.

She died the Monday right after, only a few days later. I was shocked. Very sad. And shocked. They didn’t have a viewing or anything and my dad was working during the mass they had for her. So my mom and I went on our own on Friday. I made it through, but my mom completely lost it towards the end. Rest in Peace, Cathy.

So get your mammograms, Ladies. Seriously. Take care of yourselves.
